Once the cardholder clears the outstanding amount, the cancellation process of the card begins.

As per the guidelines of SBI, you are compulsorily required to settle the outstanding dues, balance, and EMI that the card carries before you start the card cancellation process. 

Redeem reward points:

Check out the unused reward points before you cancel or close the SBI credit card.

Redeem them from the bank’s catalog of awards. You can use them for good discounts.

The cardholders may redeem the unused reward points within 45 days of the credit card cancellation.

Do not use the card right before putting a cancellation request:

We suggest you not use the SBI credit card right before the beginning of the card cancellation process, as it may create a statement of payment that the cardholder should pay. Also, your card cancellation request might be canceled if it contains a fresh outstanding.

Check the latest statement: 

Always see if any latest SBI credit card statement is meant to be canceled, so there are no fraudulent transactions over it later on. 

Steps to Cancel Your SBI Credit Card Offline

You can follow one of the three methods to deactivate your SBI credit card offline-

Call the SBI customer care helpline-

Any SBI credit card holder can easily close or cancel the card account by calling the toll-free number 39-02-02-02 (with prefix as local STD code) or 1860-180-1290. 

You can also write to SBI requesting to close the credit card account on this address- SBI Card, PO- Bag 28, GPO, New Delhi-110001.

The customer care helpline of SBI is available 24/7, and you can please request there for credit card closure. You will be asked a few details to ensure the card is yours. The executive will initiate the process on your request after validation. 

Do not forget to mention your name, address, contact details, and card number. However, you do not need to mention any confidential information like the pin or CVV number of the card. 

Once it is done, you shall diagonally cut the card. After termination of the primary card by the bank, the addon cards will automatically get canceled.
